This question is becoming increasingly important. A few years ago, almost all customers inquiring about skid stations were asking about CNG. Now, a considerable portion of inquiries directly ask: Can it handle hydrogen? The direct answer is: Yes. In addition to CNG, Huayan's skid stations explicitly support compressed hydrogen (H₂), nitrogen (N₂), and helium (He). However, it's important to clarify: "support" does not mean you can take a CNG skid station and directly load hydrogen into it. Different media need to be specified when placing an order. Huayan will make the corresponding configuration adjustments according to the target medium before shipment, not on-site.

The working pressure is uniformly 25 MPa (250 bar), with an inlet pressure adaptation range of 0.3–20 MPa. All four media operate under this pressure system. So what exactly is the difference when using CNG versus hydrogen?
This is the second question buyers inevitably ask after confirming "it can handle hydrogen." From the product perspective, Huayan's skid station uses a hydraulic reciprocating double-acting compressor. The characteristic of this drive method is that it has stronger adaptability to gas media than ordinary electric-driven compressors; there is no need to replace the core mechanical structure just because the medium is changed. However, there are two points that must be confirmed in advance when placing the order:
1. Sealing Materials: Hydrogen molecules are extremely small and have a much stronger permeation capability for seals than CNG. For hydrogen operating conditions, hydrogen-compatible sealing materials are required, which are not default options in the standard CNG configuration.
2. Pipeline Cleaning Standards: Hydrogen has high sensitivity to impurities and oil stains. Before switching to a hydrogen medium, the pipelines need to be cleaned according to hydrogen service standards. Many buyers also have this scenario: currently using CNG, but planning to introduce hydrogen filling business in the future. The common question in this case is: If I buy one now, can it be switched to hydrogen later? Huayan supports such customized requirements, but there is one premise to clarify: If you are sure you will switch to hydrogen in the future, it's best to indicate this in the initial order so the factory configuration can be done right the first time. Retrofitting later involves replacing seals and cleaning pipelines, which is much more troublesome and costly compared to factory pre-configuration.
